Paul Jamieson in Sugar Blue
Four piece cover band, also available as Duo or Trio
Members of Sugar Blue are:
Pete Mitchell – Saxaphones, Percussion
Paul Jamieson – Guitar, Lead Vocals, Percussion
Scott Hay – Drums
Vince Wienckowsky – Double Bass, Electric Bass
Paul has performed at numerous functions, major events and festivals across Australia. These include the Crown Casino, Lassiters Casino, The Spirit of Tasmania (boat), The St.Kilda Festival, Menzies Rialto, Brighton International and the Maroondah Festival. Paul is English/Jamaican and the cultural influence often comes across in the rhythms and vocal style though he is well versed in various popular music styles.
Pete also draws on wide experiences having been leader of his own bands and a member of well-known big bands. He has toured Australia and Internationally. Pete is a versatile musician playing the beautiful Soprano Sax right through to the deep sounding Baritone Sax as well as guitar and hand percussion. Recent tours have included New Caledonia and The Northern Territory. Scott is a well-respected Melbourne drummer well established in the jazz scene. He appears regularly at Dizzy’s jazz club along with Paris Cat, Manchester Lane and Crown Casino. Festivals have included the Wangaratta Jazz festival. Scott is a smooth drummer with great dynamic range according to the setting.
Vince also has wide experience in the Melbourne music scene having appeared at venues too numerous to mention. Many of the dates in recent times have been with Paul and Pete. Recently they have included trio performances at the Royal Hotel in Essendon, Music Day for the City of Casey and as quartet at Tesselaars Tulip Festival. Weddings are also a regular occurrence for the band. All members of Sugar Blue are seasoned professionals and take pride in their presentation and equipment. Where needed the band can provide their own P.A. and some lighting. They are courteous and professional in their conduct and play for the audience as much as themselves.
