Doole-Evans-Farnsworth is a coming together of three skilled musicians with a common heritage and love of traditional and acoustic folk music. Rob Doole (fiddle & vocals) and Pat Evans (guitar & vocals) played together as teenagers in Geelong based bands during the peak of the bush band era in the early 80s. They subsequently went their different musical ways though always maintained their friendship in the years since. Prue Farnsworth (flute, whistle, keyboards & vocals) came up through a more formal musical education and is a highly skilled musician in many styles. Prue and Rob have been playing together in various combinations for the last few years and invited Pat to join them in early 2009.

The result is a trio based on each other’s strengths and experience dedicated to the enjoyment of folk and acoustic music with particular focus on Celtic styles. The combination of strong vocals with inspired fiddle playing and haunting flute / whistle and fluid guitar lines makes for a magical sound guaranteed to lift the spirits and get the toes tapping. Much of the trio’s repertoire is derived from the folk clubs and sessions of bygone days and is a deliberate attempt to recreate the fun atmosphere these musicians enjoyed when they were starting out. Some original songs and a range of contemporary material is also included to provide variety and “keep the show moving”.

Doole-Evans-Farnsworth is the perfect act for mixed age functions, folk fans and fans of Irish / Celtic music. Expect great playing, great songs and tunes, and an easy, natural performance from these three gifted musicians.
