Swing it !

Neo-Swing, Jump Blues Band

Swing It!! began in 2000 as a studio group experimenting with new rhythm & blues coming out of America at the time. It was thought that some new swing numbers from the recent swing revival could be added to the list of songs. It soon became the focus of the group, then named The Blues Project.

With the direction now very much into Neo-Swing it was thought that the group should leave the studio and perform this exciting music to the masses. The name change to Swing It!! ( two exclamation marks to make it sound more exciting) came after the first live gig - four months after they formed.

One month later they went on to produce a 'Live' CD - direct to DAT in the studio. Fourteen tracks were belted out in 12 hours and remain testament to the edgy and energetic stage sound still heard today. A second CD, "Swing It!! - Again" was released in 2001 and continues with Neo-Swing at it's best. An third CD is due for release during November 2004.

Swing It!! has gone on to play at most major events in Geelong including Pako Festa, a multi-cultural festival, the Festival of Sail over the Australia Day weekend, Carols by the Bay where the group performed the warm-up to 10,000 people before the Christmas show , the inaugural Swing Festival at Torquay and, more recently, the prestigious Queenscliff Music Festival and the Halls Gap Jazz Festival where they were a smash hit. They will be appearing weekly as the house band on Channel 31’s Geelong Tonight which will begin in January 2005.

Neo-Swing is best described as Count Basie meets Bill Haley & the Comets. A mix of new swing songs, some jump blues songs from the forties and a few tributes to the big swing bands, Swing It!! don't let up with the pace and energy during their stage performances. It's hard NOT to be moved by Victoria's only Neo-Swing group.
